40.8 To die peacefully, the soul must fall asleep

In the process of dying, it is often difficult for the soul to detach itself from the material body. At the moment of actual dying, the soul falls asleep and can then pass quietly, only to awaken again later in the astral world.
The person who dies enters the afterlife between the fourth and fifth degree of sleep. Then the fluid cord breaks.
During an exit, the spiritual body remains connected to the material body through the fluid cord. If the fluid cord breaks, then the spirit cannot return to the material body and dies. Return to the body is then no longer possible.

-When the soul dies, that is, the body, and it becomes detached from the organism, it sleeps. Death is sleep. We have learned these laws; it is the return to the inner life of the personality. There is nothing else to experience, but later, now in this astral world, she must wake up and only now does her spiritual life begin.

-You can disembody in the fifth grade of sleep. This grade has attune- ment to our life, and it takes you into the astral laws. The human being who dies, enters life after death between the fourth and the fifth grade. Then the fluid cord breaks. When death comes, this connection between soul and material tears and you must leave the earthly life. During the dying process, it can be determined whether people have slept badly in their life. Now the soul must enter the fifth grade through the fourth, but it cannot separate from the body; this is your battle of life and death, which the latter will win. The soul will now calmly release itself and close its eyes, to open them again on this side. The dying process by heart failure and numerous other transitions are of course a very different matter. In this case, the soul is flung from the body by a shock and the cord suddenly breaks, which means the collapse for the soul.
